(Late) Tonight could be the night

The Boston Red Sox could clinch a wild card spot tonight, but it will not be after a possible Boston win.

Should the Red Sox beat the Blue Jays tonight, then the team would still have to wait for the result of the 10 p.m. game between the Angels and Rangers. Would the players and fans hang around Fenway for an extra three hours to find out?

Boston (91-64) has a 6-game lead over Texas (85-70) in the wild card chase. Two teams could be celebrating tonight. The Angels (91-64) clinch the AL West with a win.

For Boston, Josh Beckett (16-6, 3.78) goes against Scott Richmond (7-10, 5.32). Red Sox continue to look for signs that Beckett is returning to his dominant ways.
