I-295 closures get tricky
Interstate 295 closures are about to get a little more tricky starting tomorrow.
The Maine Department of Transportation reported today they are extending a northbound left lane closure, effective tomorrow morning. The closure will be near Brunswick, from mile markers 28 to 32, spokesman Mark Latti said.
Wait, it gets better.
The right hand lane of northbound I-295 will remain closed from the Richmond-Gardiner town line (mile marker 48) to mile marker 49, or about a mile.
On the other side of the interstate, the southbound right and left lanes will alternate between closures from mile marker 49 to mile marker 39.
This, of course, is just a warm-up for "the big show," as the Kennebec Commuter likes to call it, when both lanes of I-295 will shut down for resurfacing.
That is scheduled to happen June 16, Latti said.
