I-295 closures to begin tomorrow
Starting tomorrow, the travel lane of northbound Interstate 295 will shut down between Richmond and Gardiner.
The closure will continue through May, Maine Department of Transportation officials announced today.
Crews will spend the coming weeks removing pavement for the next phase of the project: resurfacing the interstate.
Additionally, officials said, guardrail work will begin south of Beedle Road and continue to the Exit 31 off-ramp. All ramps will remain open during work.
Maine DOT officials warn drivers commute congestion is more than likely, and drivers are encouraged to seek additional routes if possible.
